The young girl who was seriously injured in a knife attack on Parnell Square in Dublin has stood up for the first time since the incident happened in 2023, her family has said.
In an update on a fundraising page for the girl, her family said she has made "great" progress since returning home last November.
The now six-year-old was one of three children who were injured in the stabbing outside Coláiste Mhuire on Parnell Square East on 23 November 2023.
A woman in her 30s, who was acting as a carer, was also injured in the attack.
The little girl's family said she was able to stand with the assistance of physiotherapists.
"Yesterday was a major day: our little girl stood up for the first time," a message on the page stated.
"Assisted by two physiotherapists, one on each side, she planted her two feet on the ground and stood tall.
"The physios said she was putting weight on her legs, which is a good sign.
"She has also made strides in her arm and hand movements, neck control, and back strengthening.
"Being around her everyday has been rewarding. It is full-on dedication, even with help, but this is what needs to happen right now.
"Let us keep powering through," they said.
A 50-year-old man has appeared before the courts charged with the attempted murder of the three children and causing serious harm to the care worker.
