Members of the public who are living beside older and vulnerable people have been asked to check in with their neighbours as the cold weather persists.
However despite the snow and biting conditions, it is another day on the road for charity worker Sharon Keeley.
Ms Keeley is part of ALONE's outreach team, which calls in on people who may be struggling because of the icy weather.
She says that it is in times like these where she is needed the most.
"We've had an awful lot of phone calls from older people," she says.
"They're worried about the weather, they're worried about being cut off, and they are worried about being isolated.
"With the power going and the water going, especially down here in the southeast where we are, we had a lot of frightened people that were ringing in," she says.
Ms Keeley works as a Support Coordinator in a housing estate just outside Carlow town.

She was speaking to RTÉ News while visiting Ann Rice, who is finding the cold tough and has not been outdoor since New Year's Eve.
"Difficult," Ms Rice says. "I want to go, but I'm kind of a bit scared about going out at the moment because I haven't been too well with the flu.
"My breathing isn't great and I'm thinking it's the weather that's causing it, so I'm kind of avoiding going out," she says.
The cold, the charity says, brings particular challenges for the vulnerable - worries over food and fuel supplies among them.
"Ordinarily, throughout the year, we come across people with severe challenges. But in this weather, particularly, people become very isolated," Ms Keeley said.
"They become frightened of the cold weather, this cold snap, not been able to get out and afraid of falling."
For Ms Rice, the visits bring social benefits too.
"I enjoy it. I like it. It makes a day shorter, too, you know, it's not so long.
"I find, like, if there's nobody calling and Sharon's not calling, I find I go to bed early."
The ALONE charity are advising older people in particular to stay warm, to keep their heat on and not to worry about the cost of energy. They say supports are available.
They are also asking people who live beside vulnerable people to check in on them as this cold snap continues to bite.
