Sinn Féin will publish its comprehensive housing policy plan tomorrow with the party committing to the building of 300,000 homes over five years.

The party's plan entitled "A Home of Your Own" proposes giving local authorities more powers to help deliver 125,000 social and affordable homes.

There are also expected to be moves to speed up planning permissions to ensure that 175,000 private homes are built to either buy or rent .

While proposals for low cost finance for those building private housing developments will also feature in the plan.

The Land Development Agency will be replaced by a new body called the Active Land Management Agency which will focus on acquiring unused zoned lands.

This new agency will likely have greater powers to quickly compulsory purchase land.

To enable this to happen the current laws around Compulsory Purchase Orders are set to be amended.

This weekend the Government signalled that it would invest another €100 million in the First Home Scheme.

However, Sinn Féin has consistently said it would end the scheme and that view is expected to be reiterated when the 109 page plan is published tomorrow.
