A man in his 20s has been arrested as part of investigation into a number of incidents in Cork last night, including criminal damage to a property, a hit and run and the seizure of a firearm.
Gardaí were called to an incident of criminal damage at a property in the Shanakiel area of the city at around 5.40pm.
A short time later a crash was reported on the Churchfield Road at around 6.10pm when a motorcyclist hit a pedestrian in his 60s.
The pedestrian was later taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.
The motorcyclist and pillion passenger failed to remain at the scene.
A man aged in his 20s was later arrested and is being detained for questioning.
He is being held at a garda station in the southern region.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.
