Search launched for kayaker missing off Waterford coast

A search is under way for a kayaker missing off the coast of Co Waterford.

The kayaker left Ceann Heilbhic in Dungarvan at 11.40am this morning but failed to return to shore.

The Irish Coast Guard was alerted at 5.25pm this evening and a search was initiated from the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin.

The search is ongoing with support provided by the Helvick lifeboat, Bunmahon Coast Guard Unit, Ardmore Coast Guard Unit and Rescue 117.

The naval vessel LÉ Aobhinn is also on site coordinating the search.
