A man in his 40s is due to appear in court tomorrow morning charged in connection with incidents of criminal damage at several State buildings.
He is due to appear before Dublin District Court at around 10.30am.
A number of buildings were affected by the incident, including the gates of Government Buildings, the office of the Attorney General, Leinster House, Áras an Uachtaráin and the Custom House.
A white transit van was seized earlier today and the man in his 40s was arrested in the city centre.
The series of attacks on Government Buildings and the home of President Higgins began in the early hours of the morning.
A transit van was driven into the gates of Áras an Uachtaráin and drove off. There was no attempt to enter the building.
Gardaí there put out an alert while the van drove to the Custom House where it caused minimal damage to gates there.
It was then driven to Merrion Street where Government Buildings are located.

The van crashed into Government Buildings, the back entrance to Leinster House, and the Office of the Attorney General, damaging three gates at around 2.30am.
The force of the crash knocked the gates off the hinges at the Attorney General's office.

No one was injured during the incidents.
The scenes have been preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí are interviewing witnesses and reviewing CCTV from along the route the van travelled.
Sinn Féin TDs Pa Daly and Louise O'Reilly have said that they will raise questions in a meeting with senior gardaí about how these incidents happened.

Ms O’Reilly said: "It’s hard to understand how someone was able to carry out these attacks in several locations in this manner.
"We will be looking to the gardaí to provide us with information as to how this could have unfolded and how someone was able to travel to three separate locations in Dublin City before being apprehended."
The man in custody is known to gardaí for drug and other offences.
Gardaí have said he is being offered medical assistance for help with mental health and other health issues.

Gardaí are examining a number of social media accounts they believe may be linked to the man in custody.
Pictures and comments have been posed online including pictures of the white transit van crashed into Government Buildings.
There are also pictures of religious iconography, prayers and religious exhortations as well as a number of threats of violence on social media.
Detectives are trying to establish a motive for the attacks but have ruled out terrorism.
