A woman who was assaulted by a soldier has described his dismissal from the Defence Forces as "too little, too late".
Cathal Crotty is due to be discharged from the Defence Forces at a minute before midnight.
The 22-year-old, of Parkroe Heights, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare, was given a three-year suspended sentence for beating Natasha O'Brien unconscious in the random attack in Limerick city on 29 May 2022.
Responding to news of his dismissal, Ms O'Brien told RTÉ News: "This is the bare minimum, it should be standard procedure but it is not.
"What about all the other victims who have to watch their attacker continue to serve?"
"What is the Tánaiste Micheál Martin doing about this," she asked.

Crotty had initially tried to blame Ms O'Brien for instigating the attack.
He boasted about the assault to friends on social media.
After being shown CCTV footage, he pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court.
Ms O'Brien had described the suspended sentence as "not justice".
It led to protests nationwide and she received a standing ovation in the Dáil.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has lodged an appeal against the sentence on the basis that it was unduly lenient.
Ms O'Brien had described news of the appeal as a "step forward".
She had been advised, she added, that the case before the three-judge Court of Appeal would not be heard until October or November.
Ms O'Brien she had been invited to attend the appeal hearing and that a transcript from Crotty's sentencing hearing would be made available to the court.
