Luas Red Line services were disrupted yesterday after a van was driven onto the tracks following an incident of reckless driving.

The incident happened at around 7.10pm at the Blackhorse stop in Inchicore in the south city.

Gardaí said the driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene, adding that no injuries were reported.

Investigations are ongoing, they said.

A crane removed the vehicle which resulted in most of the operation of the Red Line being suspended.

The overhead power in the area had to be de-energised for a period.

Red Line services later resumed operations.

The incident occurred on an evening in which tens of thousands of people attended concerts, matches and events throughout the capital.
