An investigation is under way after a man in his 60s died following a workplace related incident in Co Longford.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the incident that occurred in Ballymahon this evening.
Shortly after 7.30pm, gardaí and emergency services were alerted, after a man who was working on a closed section of the Athlone Road in Ballymahon was struck by a works vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement gardaí said the area is preserved for examination.
The Health and Safety Authority and the local coroner have been notified and enquiries are ongoing.
