A 19-year-old accused of criminal damage and setting fire to a Luas tram during the Dublin riots has been released on bail.

Evan Moore, of Grangemore Road, Donaghmede, Dublin 13, appeared before Dublin District Court, charged with three offences during the public order incident on Dublin's O'Connell Street on 23 November last year.

He is the latest person charged in connection with the riots, which were some of the most serious and largest scenes of public disorder in the history of the State.

Detective Garda Aisling Gralton told Judge Monika Leech that she arrested Mr Moore at 7.10am yesterday in relation to offences allegedly committed on 23 November last year.

She said she brought him to Store Street station, where he "made no reply to each charge after caution and was handed true copies of each charge".

Mr Moore did not address the court and has yet to indicate a plea.

He is due to appear again on 30 July.

Legal aid was granted after solicitor Paddy McGarry informed the court his client was an apprentice electrician earning €400 a week.

34 people have been arrested in connection with the riots in Dublin on 23 November last year.

Cars, buses and a Luas tram were set on fire in deliberate acts of arson and businesses were looted and extensively damaged.

Dozens of people have already been charged and are currently before the courts.
