Around 250 people spent just over two hours on a halted steam train which stopped at a Wicklow station, following reports of gorse fires nearby.
The train departed Connolly Station in Dublin city at around 11am and was due to arrive in Rosslare at around 2.30pm.
However, the train was brought to a stop at around 1pm at Rathdrum Station in Co Wicklow.
Today's service was sold out with around 250 people on board.
A diesel train arrived shortly after 3pm sent by Irish Rail to assist with passengers.
Irish Rail confirmed it had advised the train to stop at Rathdrum Station in order to wait for the assisting locomotive.
It said the steam train was alerted to reports of gorse fires as well as fire damage to signalling, electrical and telecommunications cabling near Greystones.
The steam train service is operated by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI), and not Irish Rail.
The line between Greystones and Wicklow was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
However, DART services remain suspended between Greystones and Bray due to the cabling damage which is currently being assessed.
Irish Rail said earlier that Rosslare to Connolly and Connoly to Rosslare services will operate as bus transfers from Bray/Greystones and a train from Greystones/Rosslare.
Bus services are honouring rail tickets in the affected area.
According to the RPSI website, the Sea Breeze service is hauled by steam locomotive No.131 which offers passengers views of tunnels, cliffsides, beaches, forests and rivers as it travels from Dublin to Wexford.
A passenger on board the train told RTÉ News that the situation was calm as they awaited the arrival of the Irish Rail train.
A spokesman for the RPSI confirmed to RTÉ News that the steam train was advised to stop at Rathdrum Station to await the arrival of the diesel train.
He said passengers on board were kept informed of the situation while they awaited the train.
