Electronic devices seized in connection with €4m drug haul off Donegal coast

Electronic devices and documents have been seized in connection with the discovery of cocaine with an estimated value of over €4m off the coast of Co Donegal last year.

Two packages were discovered washed up at two separate locations in north Donegal on 19 July.

The first package was found at Bá Bhaile Thiarnáin, Fánaid, while a second package was later discovered at Tramore Beach in Dunfanaghy.

Both packages, which weighed around 60kg, were recovered for analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

This morning, searches were carried out at a number of locations in Dundalk, Co Louth in connection with the discovery.

Gardaí said items of potential evidential value to the investigation were seized, including electronic devices and documents.

No arrests have been made, with investigations ongoing.
