Two killed in separate crashes in Kildare and Cavan

Two men have died in separate crashes in Co Kildare and Co Cavan in the past 24 hours.

A man in his 20s died following a crash on the M7 at Curraghfarm near Kildare, at around 8.45pm yesterday evening.

The crash happened when the car he was in hit a raised grass bank between junctions 12 and 13.

The man, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man also aged in his 20s, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Two other men in the car, both in their 20s, did not need hospital treatment.

No other vehicles were involved.

Today, a man in his 40s was killed after the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a car on the N55 road at Corlurgan in Co Cavan at around 3.10pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a section of the road was closed off to facilitate a forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward in both cases, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
