Revenue officers have seized cannabis worth over €1.76 million in Co Dublin today in two separate incidents.
Revenue said they uncovered 52kg of cannabis valued at €1.04m while searching a premises in Dublin today. They said they made the discovery while examining parcels with the help of a sniffer dog named Milo.
In a statement, they said: "the illicit drugs were discovered in parcels originating from Spain and were destined for addresses across Dublin."
Elsewhere, in a separate incident, Revenue officers at Dublin Port seized another 36kg of cannabis with an estimated value of €720,000.
"The consignment arrived from Barcelona and was destined for an address in Co Dublin," a statement said.
Revenue said it has opened investigations into the seizures.
Yesterday, Revenue said they also seized 5,300 cigarettes, 1kg of tobacco and "a small quantity of gin" at Dublin Port worth €5,300.
The driver was arrested and appeared in court this morning, where he pleaded guilty and was fined €3,500 and given 3 months to pay.
