Gardaí in Dublin have begun a criminal investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Tallaght earlier this week.

A man in his 50s was found unresponsive in the garden of a house on Dromcarra Avenue last Wednesday.

He was treated at the scene before being removed to hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination was carried out, which has indicated the man died violently.

Gardaí have said they are now treating the man's death as suspicious and the resources of a murder inquiry have been deployed.

The scene was preserved for a forensic examination, an incident room has been set up and gardai in Tallaght are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
