Fewer than 100 homes and businesses are without electricity after damage caused by Storm Betty on Friday night and in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A spokesperson for ESB Networks said their supply will be restored this evening.

The storm left around 70,000 customers without supply but many were reconnected last night.

ESB Networks thanked impacted customers for their forbearance and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Meanwhile, clean-up operations resumed in many areas where high waters damaged amenities, homes and business properties.

Counties Cork and Kerry bore the brunt of the flooding. Local authorities have been removing felled trees, some of which crushed vehicles, blocked roads or knocked powers lines.

And in Dublin, work is continuing on cleaning up flood damage to the Clontarf Outdoor Pool.
