Pedestrian dies following collision on M6 near Tullamore

A pedestrian has died after he was struck by a lorry on the M6 motorway near Tullamore, Co Offaly, this morning.

The incident occurred between Junction 5 and 6 on the M6 westbound at around 4.45am.

A man in his 50s was killed and his body remains at the scene.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 40s, was not injured.

The M6 is closed between junctions 5 and 6 for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
