Two more teenagers charged with assaulting US tourist

Two more teenagers have been charged with assault causing harm to an American tourist in Dublin last week.

The boys, aged 15 and 16, appeared before the Children's Court today and were remanded on bail.

Earlier, a 14-year-old boy who was charged on Sunday with assault causing harm to Stephen Termini was remanded on continuing bail.

The 57-year-old artist and musician was attacked on the corner of Store Street and Talbot Street in the north inner city last Wednesday night and remains in a serious but stable condition in Dublin's Beaumont Hospital.

The 14-year-old boy was accompanied to court by his father today and did not address the hearing.

Defence counsel asked for the bail terms - which were not read out - to be varied for a week in August.

Sergeant John Brady, of Store Street Garda Station, did not object and the application was granted.

This afternoon, the second defendant, aged 15, was brought before Judge Paul Kelly.

Garda Sergeant Niall Godfrey said the teen was arrested at his home on Dublin's northside this afternoon and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained and charged.

He is also accused of assault causing harm to Mr Termini.

Garda Godfrey had no objection to bail, subject to conditions agreed with the boy's defence solicitor.

The teen was ordered to stay away from Talbot Street, Portland Row, Summerhill, Gardiner Street, Amien Street, Railway Street and surrounding areas in the north inner city.

He must obey a 9pm-7am curfew and provide gardaí with a contact phone number.

The judge also ordered that he does not communicate with the first defendant.

He was also accompanied to court by his father.

The third boy, 16, was also brought before Judge Kelly this afternoon charged with assault causing harm to Mr Termini.

Detective Sergeant Shane Noone made no objection to bail with conditions and the teen's defence solicitor consented to the terms.

He must obey a 9pm-7am curfew, provide a mobile phone number, be contactable 24 hours a day, and not associate with the co-defendants.

He must stay away from Talbot Street, Railway Street and James Joyce Street.

The teen was accompanied to court by his mother.

Legal aid was granted and the three boys were remanded to appear at the Children's Court again on 5 October.
