RTÉ's Interim Deputy Director General has said that there will be changes to the controversial barter account.
Speaking at the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, Adrian Lynch said that purchases by RTÉ against the account will cease.
Previous committee meetings have heard that the barter account was used to pay presenter Ryan Tubridy an extra €150,000.
It was also used to pay out hundreds of thousands of euro on hospitality and entertainment, including sports events, hotel stays and lavish dinners in top restaurants.
Mr Lynch said the barter account was a useful commercial trading tool, adding that it generated income that was reinvested back into public service media.
He said: "It will continue to do this, but purchases by RTÉ against the account will cease."
Mr Lynch said surpluses from that account would now simply be cashed out and returned to group revenue and reinvested.
"Where client representation is required, this will be from a separate budget line to be agreed, with central finance oversight," he said.
