A 17-year-old boy has appeared before Dublin Children's Court charged with the murder of Aaron Keating in Ongar in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
Mr Keating, who was in his 40s, died after he was fatally stabbed on Main Street in Ongar.
Detective Sergeant Mark Murphy told the court that he arrested the teenager for the purpose of charging him at 10.11pm last night.
Det Sgt Murphy said that at 10.51pm the boy was charged with the murder of Mr Keating on 13 June on Main Street in Ongar in Dublin 15.
He said that the teenager made no reply to the charge after caution.
Judge Brendan Toale remanded the 17-year-old in detention at the Oberstown Children Detention Campus in Dublin.
He will appear in court again next Friday 23 June.
The teenager cannot be named and his parents accompanied him in court.
Gardaí were called to Main Street in Ongar on Tuesday evening, where Mr Keating was discovered with serious stab wounds.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead.
