The Director of Digital Transformation and Open Innovation at the Health Service Executive, Professor Martin Curley, has resigned.
In a brief statement the HSE said it had received a resignation letter from Prof Curley and that as it does not discuss employee matters it had nothing further to add.
Prof Curley was appointed as the HSE's Chief Information Officer in 2018 before going on to become director of digital transformation.
Prior to joining the HSE, he was senior vice president and group head for global digital practice at Mastercard.
Prof Curley previously held the role of vice president at the Intel Corporation and Director/GM of Intel Labs Europe.
He is the author of eight books on technology management and is the co-founder of the Innovation Value Institute at Maynooth University.
The HSE Digital Innovation team was established in 2019 to develop the digital capability of the HSE and to adopt new technologies in a bid to improve health service efficiency and effectiveness.
