Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said he intends to "make an early visit" to Northern Ireland to meet the political parties.
Speaking on RTÉ's Six One News, Mr Varadkar said he also plans to meet British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak "as soon as possible" in the UK or in Dublin because he said "we've a lot to talk about".
He said Northern Ireland is always a shared responsibility between the Taoiseach and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, so he said it is something he and Tánaiste Micheál Martin "will work together on".
Mr Varadkar said when he finished as Taoiseach two and-a-half years ago "we did have an agreement with the British government and the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive were up and running".
"Through no fault of anybody in Dublin, in my view things fell apart, but I think we can put them back together again," he said.
Earlier, Mr Varadkar said the Government will review whether it can strengthen implementation of the Climate Action Plan.
Speaking to reporters in Dublin, he said there will be a special Cabinet subcommittee meeting this week with a view to agreeing the plan and publishing it.
It is expected there will also be a full Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Mr Varadkar said that the plan was not fully agreed yet.
The Government has been criticised for failing to fully implement all of its climate commitments.
But Mr Varadkar said he would be discussing potential improvements with Minister for Climate Eamon Ryan.
He added "We are going to review that and see if there is a stronger mechanism to make sure the climate plan action is implemented."
Speaking in the Dáil yesterday after he was elected Taoiseach, Mr Varadkar said he would work with Mr Ryan to develop "the capacity of the Department of the Taoiseach on climate action".
He said: "It is a project that will go beyond the lifespan of this Government into the next and the one after. But it will be worth doing and it will bring enormous benefits to our economy and our environment."
Mr Varadkar's comments come as a UN nature deal has proposed calls to protect at least 30% of the planet by 2030.
Meanwhile, Mr Varadkar said the country faces a very deep housing crisis which is affecting many generations.
He said he wanted to see what could be done to accelerate the implemention of the the Government's Housing for All plan.
He said he wanted consideration given to any additional measures which the Government could take.
"I don't want us to meet our targets, I want us to exceed them," he said.
Earlier today, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Simon Coveney said there was "a real determination in Government" to show that there is stability and continuity.
Speaking on RTÉ's The Week In Politics, Minister Coveney said this does not mean that there isn't room for improvement and that they "need to do better" in areas like housing and healthcare.
"We know that we need to do better in some areas and there is a huge focus in doing that, but I think it's also important to recognise that Ireland has got some things right," he said.

"We've managed to guide Ireland through some extraordinary crises, whether it was Brexit or Covid, and now trying to ensure that Ireland does what we need to do in the context of war on our continent and the pressure that that is putting on people and households.
"I think it was the right thing to do yesterday to show that Ireland could move through a transition in terms of a change of leadership at the top, but to do it in a way that's professional and predictable, so that we can ensure that stability is prioritised at a time when there is so much instability internationally and in many peoples' lives," said Mr Coveney.
Speaking on the same programme, Sinn Féin's Louise O'Reilly said: "If we have to have any chance of hitting targets, this country needs a change of government because this Government have shown themselves singularly incapable of hitting their targets."
