The Cabinet has agreed to appoint Siún Ní Raghallaigh as the new chair of the RTÉ Board.
Ms Ní Raghallaigh is the former chief executive of Ardmore studios and Troy Studios.
She was also managing director of Tyrone Productions and head of finance with Tribune newspaper group.
She recently retired as TG4 chairperson and board member.
The proposal was brought by Minister for Culture Catherine Martin.
The new chair of TG4 is Anna Ní Ghallachair who was chair of Údarás na Gaeltachta.
