Irish fishing vessels landed 182,000 tonnes of fish worth more than €265m last year.
The information is contained in the newly published Fish Stock Book 2022.
The book is used by Irish negotiators at the annual December meeting in Brussels to set fish quotas for the following year.
It finds stocks of haddock, megrim, monkfish, tuna and some Dublin Bay prawns have all increased in recent years and are being sustainably fished.
However, it also shows stocks of cod, herring and whiting are overfished.
The data is collected by the Marine Institute during multiple scientific fisheries surveys, across 200 days and 24,000 nautical miles.
Minister Charlie McConalogue said the book provides essential information for setting quota management advice for next year.
"The work done by Marine Institute scientists, feeding into the work of the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas, ensures decisions we are making at the December Fisheries Council are based on quality data collected over the past year," he said.
