The Taoiseach has arrived in Singapore today on the second last day of his official visit to Asia.

He arrived ahead of an official meeting with the Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong tomorrow.

He will also meet business leaders and the local Irish business Community in Singapore.

Speaking to the media on his arrival in Singapore this evening, Micheál Martin said the focus of his engagements will very much be aimed at strengthening ties between Ireland and "this political and economic leader in South East Asia".

This is the first official visit to Singapore by a Taoiseach since 2004. Mr Martin had travelled from Japan, where he started his four-day visit/
