A report on the impact of 123 projects funded as part of a Sláintecare fund has found that 3,000 emergency department attendances were avoided.

In all, 64,000 patients were seen, including 8,000 from waiting lists.

The report shows that 15,000 people received more appropriate referrals to relevant specialists in a community setting.

At the launch of the report today, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said the projects show how Sláintecare goals of shifting most care to the community can be achieved.

The Sláintecare Integration Fund had a budget of €20m and received 477 applications from a wide variety of organisations.
