The jury in the trial of a 20-year-old man who said he was acting in self-defence when he stabbed a man who entered his home in the early hours of the morning has failed to reach a verdict.
Dean Kerrie from St Brigid's Square, Portarlington in Co Laois, had denied murdering 25-year-old Jack Power at Shanakiel, Dunmore East, Co Waterford on 26 July, 2018.
Mr Power sustained a single stab wound to the front of the chest, which penetrated his heart.
After deliberating for almost seven hours since Tuesday, the jury told Ms Justice Eileen Creedon they had failed to agree a verdict.
