A 20-year-old Irish man was before a court in Greece today charged with causing the death of a 22-year-old Limerick student on the island of Ios earlier this week.

The man, who has not been named, was conditionally released on bail, the Greek Kathimerini news service has reported.

22-year-old Niall O'Brien died following an altercation in the early hours of Monday morning.

Kathimerini news service reported that the court of first instance on the island of Naxos set bail at €8,000.

The 20-year-old must also appear every month at the Greek Embassy in Dublin.
