Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for rain and thunderstorms across Ireland.
The forecaster said that thunderstorms and heavy showers will develop today over the western half of the country, moving eastwards later this evening, where they will continue tonight.
According to Met Éireann, downpours will result in hazardous driving conditions and may lead to spot flooding.
The weather warning is valid until 5am tomorrow, but a weather advisory for thunderstorms and rain will run until Thursday morning.
On Wednesday, heavy showers and thunderstorms will become widespread again.

Meanwhile, homes, roads and underground stations in London were flooded after thunderstorms battered the south of England.
