A Donegal-based garda whose allegations against gardaí and the child and family agency Tusla were dismissed by a tribunal of inquiry as "false", "ridiculous" and "nonsense" has been suspended from duty.

Keith Harrison was suspended by the Garda Commissioner last week pending a disciplinary inquiry.

It is understood his suspension is not related to matters pertaining to the Disclosures Tribunal.

Mr Justice Peter Charleton found the allegations made by Garda Harrison that were examined by the tribunal three years ago were "entirely without any validity".

Gda Harrison subsequently tried to have the findings made against him quashed but lost in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
