The Central Bank has confirmed a €15 silver proof coin to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Luke Kelly's birth will not be issued this year due to Covid-19.

It said that there have been a number of supply chain delays on all silver proof coins this year.

The coin is due to be the last in a three-coin series entitled 'Modern Irish Musicians'.

A coin commemorating Rory Gallagher was launched in September 2018, while a coin to mark 70 years since the year of Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott was released last year.

Both sold out within hours of going on sale.
