RTÉ has announced that Claire Byrne is the new presenter of RTÉ Radio 1's mid-morning 'Today' programme, starting next Monday.
The programme is broadcast from Monday to Friday between 10am and 12pm.
Ms Byrne currently presents RTÉ Radio 1's News at One, as well as Claire Byrne Live on RTÉ One television.
In a statement, she said: "I am truly delighted, honoured and humbled to be taking on this new role at RTÉ Radio 1.
"My job will be to represent the voices of the RTÉ Radio 1 listeners, and to always ask the questions they want answered at this most critical time."
Peter Woods, Head of RTÉ Radio 1, said: "Claire has vast experience across all RTÉ platforms but began her career with radio presenting The Late Debate and subsequently, Saturday with Claire Byrne.
"She brings that experience, a natural curiosity, focus and real integrity to the Today programme.
Claire Byrne Live will return to RTÉ One next month.

In its statement, RTÉ said details of the next role for the current presenter of the programme, Sarah McInerney, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Sean O'Rourke presented his final edition of the programme in May, marking the end of his 25-year career in news and current affairs with the national broadcaster.
