Man dies following 'serious incident' in Tallaght

A man in his 50s has died in what gardaí have described as a "serious incident" in Tallaght.

The incident happened in the Tymon North Road area last night.

Gardaí say they received reports of shots being fired at a house in the area shortly before midnight.

No injuries were reported, but following another incident outside the house, the man was hit by a van.

He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with serious injuries, but later pronounced dead.

The driver of the van failed to stop at the scene and it was later found at Tymonville Gardens.

A man in his 30s was arrested nearby and is being held at Tallaght Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for any information on a dark coloured hatchback car that was seen leaving the area around the time.

They are also appealing to any road users who were travelling in the Tymon North Road area late last night or in the early hours of this morning, and who may have dash-cam footage, to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station on 01-6666000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
