A 22-year-old man has died after a shooting in north Dublin this evening.

Armed gardaí and emergency services are at the scene in Clonshaugh Avenue.

It is understood that the shooting took place at around 5.15pm. The man was in his front garden when several shots were fired at him.

He was hit six times in the upper body, arm and chest.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives believe at least two gunmen were involved in the shooting. The scene has been preserved pending the arrival of a garda forensic team.

The victim was known to gardaí, and it is suspected that the attack is related to a feud in the Coolock area.

It has now claimed five lives, and tension has been high in the area for some time.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan said he was "deeply concerned" to hear of the incident.

"I condemn this wanton violence. I urge anyone with information to please contact An Garda Síochána and assist them with their investigation."
