The Chinese government has published a list of Irish meat-processing facilities that have been approved for export, clearing the way for Irish beef to enter China's market.
The list was published this morning by the Chinese government's General Administration of Customs.
It follows a two-week inspection trip by several inspectors from China in recent months.
The plants approved are:
- Kildare Chilling
- Euro Farm Foods, Duleek
- ABP Cahir, Rathkeale, Ferrybank and Bandon
- Meadow Meats, Rathdowney
- Dawn Meats, Grannagh and Ballyhaunis
- Ashbourne Meat Processors, Roscrea and Naas
- Kepak, Ballymahon and Kilbeggan
Approval has also been granted to cold stores at CGI Coldstore, Blanchardstown and Musgrave, Tallaght.
Chinese consumers have a growing appetite for beef, with consumption levels expected to increase dramatically in the next ten years.
