A campaign has been launched to promote students' individuality in schools.

The #teachmeasme campaign by Comhairle na nÓg follows a finding at Dail na nÓg 2017 that equality in schools was the most pressing topic for young people in Ireland.

One youth representative told the gathering that students’ appearance has nothing to do with how they learn.

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone, who donned a baseball cap belonging to one of the youth delegates while she was speaking, told the young people gathered: "It’s your time to speak to us, and it is our time to listen."

A competition to find the best examples of schools around the supporting student individuality was launched as part of the events.
