Irish boy, 3, dies following Spanish pool incident

A three-year-old Irish boy, who was in a critical condition following an incident at a swimming pool in Spain, has died.

The little boy was discovered in the Cabo Roig urbanisation pool in Orihuela, Alicante, yesterday.

He was given CPR at the scene before being flown to Hospital de Alicante by helicopter.

Spanish police said the boy died there today.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is "aware of the the case and is providing consular assistance".
