The inquest into the death of Mark Hennessy will resume at the Dublin Coroner's Court in December.

The 40-year-old abducted and murdered Jastine Valdez as she walked to her home in Co Wicklow on 19 May 2018.

He strangled the 24-year-old student and dumped her body on land in Rathmichael.

Hennessy died after he was shot by a garda in the arm and chest at Cherrywood Business Park the following day. 

The inquest into his death opened last December but was adjourned for six months to allow the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission investigate the shooting.

file was sent to the DPP and yesterday it was confirmed the Garda who shot Hennessy will not face any criminal charges.

The case was listed for mention today, where Nicholas Harden, Senior Investigating Officer with GSOC told the court the investigations had concluded.

Dr Myra Cullinane said there was no impediment to carrying out a full hearing.

A date for this was set for the 4 December.

Members of Hennessy's family were present in the Coroners Court today as the case was mentioned.
