A man has been seriously wounded following a stabbing in Ballyfermot in Dublin this evening.

The man, who was in his 40s, was stabbed a number of times in a park.

He managed to make his way to an off-licence for assistance.

He was brought by ambulance to St James’s Hospital.

The victim's injuries were later described as non-life threatening.

Local Sinn Féin Cllr Daithí Doolan said it was a shocking attack.

"It happened at a busy time in broad daylight and I would encourage anyone with information to please contact the gardaí".
