Five day snow-ice warning for entire country as temperatures set to dip to -5C

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow snow-ice warning for the country from tomorrow until Saturday.

Forecasters say this week will be very cold with scattered wintry showers of sleet and snow in the west and north.

There is the possibility of a more significant spell of sleet and snow on Thursday.

Average air temperatures are expected to be 3 or 4 degrees below the average for this time of year.

Met Éireann said there will be widespread frost at night with icy stretches on untreated surfaces.

They said the temperature could dip as low as -5 in some parts.

The warning will come into force from tomorrow morning at 6am, and will remain in operation until Saturday at 6pm.
