Four people arrested by gardaí investigating the terrorist financing of the Islamic State group have been released from custody.

The four, who are members of an extended family, were questioned about the movements of tens of thousands of euro from Ireland to the Middle East.

Six searches were carried out and documents, electronic equipment and cash seized during yesterday’s arrest operation.

Three women and a man, who are originally from one of the former Soviet republics, were detained overnight in two Dublin garda stations.

A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí say they are liaising with Interpol and law enforcement agencies abroad and the investigation is continuing.
