Met Éireann has issued a nationwide orange wind alert ahead of Storm Deirdre, which is set to track over Ireland on Saturday afternoon.
The developing depression will move northeast over the country during the afternoon and evening, and will bring wet and windy weather to all areas.
West or northwest winds are predicted to reach mean speeds of 65km/h with gusts of 100km/h.
"Disruptive and damaging gusts" of up to 130km/h are are likely for a few hours in western and southern counties in the late afternoon, moving eastwards in the evening, according to Met Éireann.
The warning is valid from 3pm until midnight on Saturday.
