A majority of people helped out of homelessness into private rental accommodation remain worried about their tenure, according to a survey by Focus Ireland.
The survey found that 54% of those in private rental accommodation were concerned about becoming homeless again in the next 12 months.
This compared to just 12% of those in local authority housing.
Focus Ireland said this demonstrates the need to strengthen security of tenure if the rental sector is to be a long-term solution for those in low income.
However, the survey of 288 people who had been moved out of homelessness, found that 95% were still in their homes.
In total Focus Ireland helped 1,065 people out of homelessness last year.
