A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a mother of two in Dundalk earlier this week.
Edmundas Dauksa of Castleross, Castletown Road, Dundalk was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next week.
Ingrida Maciokaite, 31, originally from Lithuania, died after she was attacked and stabbed several times outside the Bridgewater Mews apartments in Dundalk on Tuesday afternoon.
She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
There was no application for bail as the accused is facing a charge of murder and bail can only be granted in the High Court.
The court was told Mr Dauska was a shell fisherman who had run his own business. Originally from Lithuania, an interpreter was made available to him in court.
The accused did not speak during the brief hearing and the judge also recommended he receive the appropriate medical care in custody.
