A woman whose husband was left with serious injuries after a scrambler motorcycle landed on him as he sunbathed in a Dublin park has said she has been left with "no future".

Ilabek Avetian, 39, and his wife Anzhela Kotsinian from Armenia were lying on the grass at Darndale Park on 9 June during the summer heatwave.

Ms Kotsinian recalls the couple "talking about their dreams" when the motorbike drove off the brow of a hill and landed on top of them.

She said she remembers hearing the sound of a motorbike, before feeling the sudden impact of it landing on them.

"I couldn't understand why my husband hadn't made any sound. The first thing that went through my mind was that my husband had already passed away because I couldn't hear him," she said.

Ms Kotsinian says she jumped up but her husband remained lying there.

"I could hear shouting, screaming and after a while I realised that that sounds was my own screaming."

Mr Avetian was left with serious injuries and for the past three months has been in a vegetative state in intensive care at Beaumont Hospital.

Ms Kotsinian said her life has been stolen from her.

"The morning comes in. All the time I'm thinking about when I'll go to hospital - each second, each minute," she said.

"Every day I open my phone to see if the nurse has called me. My mind is always on stand-by, waiting and waiting, looking at the phone, hoping for news about my husband".

Mr Avetian worked as a roofer and Ms Kotsinian had worked as a teacher for ten years before coming to Ireland.

They intended on staying here, she says.

"We were planning on buying a home and maybe in the future we were planning a child, IVF. I know many clinics here because we had one experience of IVF in Armenia but it wasn't successful".

They couple had only been living together in Ireland since April and therefore Ms Kotsinian said she did not know many people, but she wanted to thank locals for their support.

"I never expected that we would get such support from the local community. Even if they're strangers to us, they're still very helpful".

A teenager was arrested following the incident.

The teen was later released and a file prepared for the DPP.
