A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of 18-year-old Cameron Reilly in Co Louth.

Aaron Connolly, 18, of Willistown, Drumcar, Co Louth, appeared in Drogheda District Court charged with the murder of Mr Reilly at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer, on Saturday 26 May.

Detective Sergeant Feargal O'Toole of Drogheda Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

He said Mr Connolly made no reply when the charge was put to him.

Judge John Coughlan remanded Mr Connolly in custody, to appear again by videolink in Cloverhill Court on 12 July.

Cameron was last seen in the vicinity of Ardee Road, Dunleer, at around 12.30am on 26 May.

His body was found in a field on the edge of the town by a man walking his dog at 8am that morning.

A post-mortem examination found he had been strangled.

The first-year business student at Dundalk Institute of Technology had been out socialising the night before.
