A man has died after being struck by a car on the M9 motorway near Kilcullen in Co Kildare.
The man, who was in his early 40s, was hit by the car while walking on the northbound side of the motorway between the Athy and Kilcullen exits at around 3.30am.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled on the M9 between Kilcullen and Athy between 2.30am and 4.30am to contact Naas Garda Station on 045-884300.
