Údarás na Gaeltachta says jobs growth during 2017 has put the number of people employed by companies it supports at its highest level in almost a decade.

The agency's 2017 review, released this morning, says there was a net increase of 155 jobs created by client firms during the year.

The report says firms in receipt of Údarás supports are employing more than 7,500 people in Gaeltacht areas.

The food and drink, medical device and traditional manufacturing sectors reflected the highest net increase in employment levels.

In contrast, job losses were seen in the film and television, fish farming and data processing sectors.
