The body of a 21-year-old Irish student has been found in Vienna, Austria, a week after he went missing, according to his family.

Ross Hanlon, from Athboy, Co Meath, was last seen on January 19 with two friends when he left a night club.

Austrian police said the three men left the night club at 2am.

They went to the Augarten Bridge, close to the Danube canal, where Mr Hanlon then disappeared.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the family.

"Like to thank everyone for the support. We are going to bring Ross home and give him what he deserves," said his brother Craig on Facebook this evening.
