A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a shooting in  Dublin on Monday.

A 29-year-old mother and her baby son, along with a 17-year-old man, were shot and injured as part of a feud among Traveller families at Parslickstown Gardens in Mulhuddart.

This afternoon, Dan Donovan, formerly of Parslickstown Gardens, was brought before the Dublin District Court charged with possession of a firearm and making a threat to kill.

The father-of-15 was remanded in custody with consent to bail to appear in court again next week.

Mr Donovan was taken by garda escort from Finglas to the late sitting of the Dublin District Court.

The three victims were taken to hospital after they were shot with a shotgun on Monday.

Members of the Travelling community who live in the estate say it is the latest incident in a long-running feud between two families.

The court heard evidence from Garda Michael Jones in relation to the arrest, charge and caution of Mr Donovan.

He told the court that when Mr Donovan was charged this afternoon with possession of a firearm and making a threat to kill at Parslickstown Gardens last Monday, he replied: "It's all lies."

Gardaí outlined the sequence of events and objected to bail because of the nature and seriousness of the charges

Defence counsel Oisin Clarke said that Mr Donovan could be in jail for two years before a trial if he was remanded in custody.

He also said the events outlined to the court amounted to an unchallenged hearsay statement and that seven of Mr Donovan's children are under 18.

Judge Bryan Smyth said he was not satisfied the prosecution evidence was strong enough to refuse bail and he remanded him in custody with consent to bail on his own bond or cash lodgment on a number of conditions.

The conditions include that he reside at a particular unnamed address, have no contact with all witnesses or the Collins family, stay out of Dublin and particularly Blanchardstown, observe a curfew from 10pm to 7am, notify gardaí if he wants to leave the country and sign on daily at Blessington Garda Station.

He is due back in court at Cloverhill on 19 December.

A 23-year-old woman has also been charged in connection with the shooting.

She is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30am tomorrow morning.
